🔥 Revi’i 26, 6027 AA 🔥 – It Is Better to Give Charity Than to Lend to Your Neighbor

Devarim (Deuteronomy) 15:7–8 — “If there is among you a poor man, one of your brethren within any of your gates in your land which YHWH your Elohim is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs.”

💡 The Heart of Giving

There is a divine principle hidden in the mitzvah of giving: Tzedakah not only helps the receiver but transforms the giver. Scripture acknowledges lending as a noble act — but placing a needy brother under debt creates pressure, risk, and imbalance. Charity, on the other hand, is freely given without expectation of return. It mirrors the heart of YHWH — whose mercy is unearned, and whose blessings are often completely disproportionate to what we deserve.
