TEFILLAH

TEFILLAH

Here are the two elements of our daily Tefillah:

The Shema (recite morning and evening)

Hear, O Israel, YHVH is our Elohim, YHVH is One. Blessed is the Name of His glorious kingdom for all eternity. And you shall love YHVH your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. And you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. And you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

And it shall come to pass if you surely listen to the commandments that I command you today, to love YHVH your Elohim and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, that I will give the rain of your land in its season, the early rain and the late rain, and you will gather in your grain and your wine and your oil. And I will give grass in your fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied.

Beware, lest your heart be deceived and you turn and serve other gods and worship them. And the anger of YHVH will be kindled against you, and He will close off the heavens and there will be no rain, and the ground will not give its produce, and you will perish quickly from the good land that YHVH gives you.

And you shall place these words of mine on your heart and on your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. And you shall teach them to your children to speak about them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road and when you lie down and when you rise. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. In order to prolong your days and the days of your children on the land that YHVH swore to your fathers to give them, like the days of the heavens on the earth.

The Amidah (recite morning, noon and evening)

YHVH, open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. Blessed are You, YHVH, our Elohim and the Elohim of our forefathers, Elohim of Avraham, Elohim of Yitzchak, and Elohim of Yaakov, the great, mighty and awesome Elohim, exalted Elohim, who bestows bountiful kindness, who creates all things, who remembers the piety of the Patriarchs, and who, in love, brings a redeemer to their children’s children, for the sake of His Name.

During the Ten Days of before Yom Kippur add: Remember us for life, King who desires life; inscribe us in the Book of Life, for Your sake, O living Elohim. O King, (You are) a helper, a savior and a shield.

Blessed are You YHVH, Shield of Avraham. You are mighty forever, my YHVH; You resurrect the dead; You are powerful to save.

He causes the dew to descend.

He causes the wind to blow and the rain to fall.

He sustains the living with loving kindness, resurrects the dead with great mercy, supports the falling, heals the sick, releases the bound, and fulfills His trust to those who sleep in the dust.

Who is like You, mighty One! And who can be compared to You, King, who brings death and restores life, and causes deliverance to spring forth!

During the Ten Days of before Yom Kippur add: Who is like You, merciful Father, who in compassion remembers His creatures for life. You are trustworthy to revive the dead. Blessed are You YHVH, who revives the dead.
